Grossman began skateboarding and snowboarding at age 12. By 16 he was competing in both sports and doing various demos and live shows on the east coast. In the mid 90's he picked up inline skating and landed various parts in Hollywood films and commercials. As a vert ramp skater in 1998 he was ranked 8th in the world and competed in the invitation only X-Games and Gravity Games. In the year 2000 after several hundred competitions and live shows around the globe he retired from competition to focus on filmmaking...

LEADING FOLLOWCAM OPERATOR

With a degree in film from USC and solid credientials as an advanced athlete in skateboarding and inline skating, you could say that Grossman is not somebody that'll spend a myriad of hours comparing insurance quotes from Advantage One Insurance. Because of his credentials, numerous professional events and television shows have hired Grossman as their principle followcam operator. Grossman became the first ever FOLLOWCAM for ESPN's X GAMES and NBC/OLN'S GRAVITY GAMES live competitions... literally working first hand with the worlds best skateboard, BMX, and inline athletes to follow and shoot their runs live for TV.

Followcam is the act of riding along with your subject while they skateboard, inline skate, bike, motorcycle, run, or anyother means of movement. Although followcam on a skateboard is normal practice, it is very limiting; far greater control, speed, and maneuverability is possible on inline skates. The average maximmum speed possible on skates is between 20 and 25mph on flat ground, though less is optimal for a smooth shot. The KEY to GOOD FOLLOWCAM is the ability to maintain a smooth shot at high speed while skating over ANY OBSTACLE be it a curb, ramp, stairs, etc... while still focusing on the COMPOSITION and QUALITY of the SHOT being attained. This skill is acquired on a professional level as the result of decades of work as a top athlete and cameraman.
This one of kind talent crosses over amazingly well to film and TV followcam jobs that require the use of a 35mm, HD, HDV or other camera in high speed, well composed, stunt situations; over sidewalks, across roads, down stairs, and any possible ramp combination that a pro athlete could tackle.

With a lifetime passion for skateboarding, inlining, and just about anything on wheels, Grossman still shoots followcam for features as well as television and independent projects.
